Revival
Evangelist Chuck Cofty

Job 29:2
“Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;”

This passage was in my devotion this morning as I thought upon the general need for revival in our wicked nation. This passage brought to my mind the absolute necessity for all of us to walk with our God and have a forward look vice a backward look.

Job in this passage asked of God that he might be as he “were in months past” - the difficulty in all of us is that we know full that to be revived means a new work in our lives - additional work! Work as we all know is a bad four letter word in the average Baptist church. But work it must be if we are to be revived. We must pray, read our Bibles, witness and beg God to push us forward into the battle and not let us lie on beds of ease when our great nation is falling deeper and deeper into the abyss of sin.

Our desire must be to turn things around in our own heart and then in the lives of those around us. Ask yourself today when was the last time you heard a dear sinner ask the Lord to forgive him and for the Lord Jesus to save him? If it has been a long time then we have an answer.

God help us to be diligent in the field!

“Pride is busy in the heart, and self is exalted instead of lying low at the foot of the cross. Christian, if you are not now as you "were in months past," do not rest satisfied with wishing for a return of former happiness, but go at once to seek your Master, and tell Him your sad state. Ask His grace and strength to help you to walk more closely with Him; humble yourself before Him, and He will lift you up, and give you yet again to enjoy the light of His countenance."
