Spirit Filled Christianity
Bro. Alan Morrison

Gal. 5:16
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”

A group of college guys were trying to sneak their team mascot, a goat, into their dorms. One of the guys asked, “But what do we do about the smell?” One of them replied, “He’ll just have to get used to it.”

We live in a very smelly world. The stench of sin is constantly swarming us, and it becomes very easy to get used to the smell. Just as a cow farmer gets used his cows, we can get used to the world. What is even worse is when we get used to our own smell. But the Bible is very clear that we are to live a separated, Spirit-filled life.

To walk in the Spirit, we must commit our lives to the will of God. (Rom. 12:1-2) Whatever the task, wherever it leads, we must follow and be willing to do His will. God will not lead us to someplace and leave us destitute. He will never leave us, nor forsake us. But are we willing to do the same for Him, never leave Him, nor forsake Him?

We must continually commit ourselves to God. Paul said, “I die daily.” He gave up his own desires at the altar of God each day and said, “God you lead my life.” May we follow Paul’s example of dying to self daily.

Finally, we must choose to use the power within us. Do you realize that as a Christian, you have the Holy Spirit living within you! We have all the power of God that we need to overcome the world right inside of us! We must learn to the Lord’s power and not our own.

Do you struggle with sin? Have you gotten used to the world’s smell, or even your own? Well, there is good news, you have the power to overcome sin right inside of you right now. Just commit you ways unto the Lord and He shall direct your paths.
